This is my topic for research
1- Please explain in detail what you believe to be the major characteristics of your culture. Please be more specific about your future career.
According to Dr. Saja Jamjong of the Salman Center for Disability Research, there is no standardized tool that can be used to identify students with learning disabilities in Saudi Arabia. However, going by international prevalence rates, there are more than 200,000 students with learning disabilities (LD) in Saudi Arabia (Kaaki, 2010). These students are spread out across the school system. In Saudi Arabia, the most common learning disabilities are reading and language problems. Going by statistics released by Saudi’s Ministry of Education, there are about 1,200 programs designed to assist students with learning disabilities in schools. Only 13 After School Centers have been established to cater for students with learning disabilities (Kaaki, 2010). In this regard, I consider it prudent that more emphasis be placed on students who have cleared high school and are ready to join college. I am hoping that when I complete this degree, I can pursue a higher degree all in an effort to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge required for curriculum development.
2- Which grade level and content are do you plan to teach?
In the long term, I would not only like to teach curriculum development for students with LD to interested college students, but also to be part of a research team based in Riyadh at the Salman Center for Disability Research where we will not only develop a standardized tool for assessing learning disabilities among students, but provide further training to college graduates interested in gaining knowledge on LD in Saudi from a research point of view. As a college teacher, I will specifically teach students how to assess students for learning disabilities using standardized tools from established institutions globally, how to develop an inclusive, age appropriate curriculum for students with LD, and how to implement it in different school settings found in Saudi Arabia.
3-Do you think the following is more close to what you plan to study?
The cultural group is closer to what I want to study.
