Why is adoption stigmatized and what effect does it have on families?

Short Essay questions will consist of a single question (such as “What is Family?”) that you are expected to write a coherent typed, single-spaced, 1-page paper about. The goal in writing SE’s is to synthesize the relevant course information from readings into a concise statement that tells an unfamiliar reader 1) what the topic is, 2) what it tells us about families, and 3) why it is important. Notice that I’ve highlighted the fact that you are writing for an unfamiliar reader – I grade these with the expectation that someone who has never taken the class could read your answer and have a very solid understanding of what the concept conveys and why it is discussed with respect to families. This means content is only part of what I’m grading for; I’m also grading for clearly written and communicated answers that are free of logical and grammatical errors.
