Proposal for Campus Housing UHD
identify a UHD problem that could serve as a topic for your proposal, progress report, and feasibility report; find a statistic that proves the existence of the problem; and state two possible solutions to the problem.
UHD problems could be issues with online courses, commuting, financial aid, health coverage, the UHD web site, and so forth. Undoubtedly, you can think of additional problems.
One of the repositories of information about UHD is the Institutional Research web page at http://www.uhd.edu/about/irp/ . To get started, take a look at “Fact Sheets,” “Fact Book,” and “Common Data Set.” These publications can supply the statistic you need to prove that there is a problem at UHD.
File name for uploading to Proposal topic in our course menu: (example): Garciab1_Topic Substitute your e-services or gator mail ID for “Garciab1.”
Read the sample problem in the blue box below. Then fill in the blanks in the red box on the next page. Upload this entire two-page handout at Proposal topic in our course menu.
At a specified time in the semester you can reach the librarians at Questions–Research questions for the librarians and earn points for doing so. At any other time, you can contact the librarians at one of these addresses:
http://library.uhd.edu/content.php?pid=136265&sid=1167561. Highly recommended.
Sample problem: Repeated incidents of daytime burglary in Palmer Park (subdivision)
Statistic that proves the seriousness of the problem: The July 2009 crime statistics in Houston Police Department’s Beat 2A30, where Palmer Park is located, lists 38 home burglaries.
state the required information on the problem you have identified. Remember, it must be a problem associated with UHD, and you must supply a statistic that proves it is a problem. Without a statistic, there is no problem and therefore you lack a topic for four assignments: the proposal topic, the proposal, the progress report, and the feasibility report.
name two possible solutions to the problem. Why? So that the UHD official to whom you address your proposal and the upcoming progress report and the feasibility report can make a choice between solutions to the problem.
