Academic Question: Can a client management tool be made for tablet, or mobile phone devices while retaining significant desktop utilities?
. Android application needs to be created for the Artefact
. Documents needs to be written up
(Will need drafts of both at some point)
More information in the attached documentation. (Make sure the literature review is done as it’s one of the biggest parts)
Feedback for the draft (20th Dec):
just looked at the draft. Firstly there are a few major points that really need to be addressed with this:
The literature review needs to have 50 sources, all which are explained in detail as to why they’re important in helping make the artefact, and how it helped with the research. Look at the literature survey in the proposal if unsure.
Second, everything that’s been written needs to be cited with the referencing standard provided in the documentation above. I know it’s a draft, but the fact that it’s all written up without having any form of evidence for it is worrying.
Thirdly, this barely answers the academic question. It shows no reference to any form of artefact which I asked about being created. It’d be worth nothing without it. If you look at the handbook I gave you, it should give information on the marking scheme on the last page.
I’d advise looking at the mark scheme again, because currently this is very far off. Can I also ask if I’d get a prototype app made then? This whole thing is based around that. I asked a few times, but I’m not sure if you know. Please let me know. This is very far off at the moment.
The topics should of course be based around Aims and objectives, you know that. But, it’d help if it was explained in slightly more in-depth analysis. This should all be referenced with the prototype. For example when explaining how the program deals with a certain aspect. You’d reference the code, talk about that a bit. Then cite it with information from the bibliography. Database designs should be brought up to also help this. You’re on the right track, but it seems to be lacking any relation to the prototype.
It may be worth looking at the project handbook, then going to the last page to look at how it’s marked. It may help you in that aspect. Such as design, analysis and testing. The testing being acceptance testing more specifically. You could go on to how you had a friend test it, who recomended changing the buttons so they were bigger. 4/5 people said this, so you implimented this. Try looking at the criteria in the handbook to get a closer idea on what needs to be done.
Again the literature review, will be like the bilbliography, but will only have points which helped make the program, or help with the research. It will then explain and analyse the resoufce. Both the GOOD and BAD, and how it helped you with this. There should be around 50 of these. In all honesty, anything that’s been used personally to make the prototype will be usefull here.
Due to word limits, I’ve included a privatepaste on what I need done.
Clarifications from the customer:
Just to clarify the Doctor and User App is the same thing correct? Just different classes of the same app based on user login? If so, thats fine, and covers almost everything.
Multi lingual options would be required in this case, just English will be fine, but everything else you specified is correct.
I have no database for doctors and user information, that should be filled with dummy data. However the app should allow you to create users through the admin section. I would say registerting doctor information would be good too, but thats a security risk really. So I think you can get away with just being able to do that from the database, and not the application.
The services that should be offered are generally contacting through the app, booking through the app. Payment generally wont need to be required since we have the NHS here. Perhaps adding on the ability to search by hospital? Then have the hospital locations suggested to you for the user app. Just adding this on to location searching? Then perhaps the ability to move that info to google maps for directions to that location. Just moving the location to google maps maybe. Or I guess thats already covered. That might be fine as it is. Not sure what else I can specify in this case, since it is a Client Management System, which youve pretty much covered in other parts of the system. Again ability to add yourself to the system I guess with admin access.
You could POTENTIALLY have something that will act on the push notifications reminder system. Where on the database specify when they had their last vaccination. Then the application will automatically remind you when youre close to that date. Itll build on top of what you already specified. blood tests being an annual thing and vaccinations are variant, with influenza being annual
Payment features wont be required, this is purely a private application.
I dont have a wireframe at the moment. But I think you have the right idea with a secure login and so forth. It doesn’t need to be that pretty, just use friendly with pressing.
You seem to have the right idea with this though, since this pretty much everything that comes to mind. If you could do this, Id be grateful.
PS: I know youll probably do this locally, but if you actually need a live server to test with, I can give some access to mine if itll help. Im running nginx, MySQL.
