Develop an understanding of technology’s impact on the development of world societies and cultures.
1. Overview and Initial Steps: You must schedule and complete a meeting of at least two hours or more with an international person (a person from a country different than the United States, Canada, or country of your origin). You should be able to locate someone who has not been in the United States long enough to have become “Americanized” (less than five years). All meetings should be completed before October 3, 2012.
2. Research: You will need to conduct research about the country your International person is from through books, magazines, the library, and/or the Internet prior to your meeting with the International person. You need to be knowledgeable about that country.
3. Interview: During your meeting you should spend some time talking to the International person about his or her home country; specifically, gain information about and address each of the following items in your paper:
How basic human needs are met (types of employment)
Travel and transportation
Types of buildings
Types of food in their diets
Television, newspapers, and other media
Cultural differences related to the expected roles of men & women
Technology and development (are they a developed country & types of technology that have helped them in their development & energy sources they use)
Education (is it similar to the U.S. with elementary, junior high, and high school or how does it differ)
Clothing (do they have a traditional form of clothing or similar to the U.S.).
