British policies prompted outrage and resistance among the colonists in the mid-eighteenth century. Pick at least three policies and explain their impetus, parameters, and consequences. Some advice for this essay:
Do not cut and paste course material into your essay. Your essay should be your own argument. I expect you to use the materials of this course in constructing that essay, and you should quote evidence where appropriate. However, you should not simply recapitulate sections of the books or web materials. This advice is related to the next point…
Mark your quotes and cite your sources. As I noted above, I expect you to use evidence from the course materials to prove your argument in the essay. These sources must be appropriately cited. Quotes must have quotation marks and you must use parenthetical notation to cite course materials.
I expect you to use all relevant course materials in answering these questions. This includes all of the books and websites included in the course.
The essay is a big deal! The essay is more than half of the grade for the exam. Your essay should present a focused and clear answer to the question, but it should also be SUBSTANTIAL. This is not meant to be a one-paragraph answer. I will expect to see a thesis statement with an argument that answers the question, supported by evidence.
