a cycle of economic despair
In at least one paragraph in length (a minimum of 10 sentences) answer the following:
#1 How can we best explain a cycle of economic despair that lasts for years or even generations in the African American and Native American populations? Provide at least two examples with explanation from the textbook and offer one of your own. You may include an example from “The Wrestler.”
#2 Using the latest data from the 2010 Census, critique/deconstruct the notion of household income. In doing so, consider the fact that for a Black household to have the income of a White household, they must have two adult incomes, one male and one female. Consider that for many Asian households, all members that are able to work for pay do so, and their incomes are included in calculations of household income. Use current Census data at http://2010.census.gov/2010census/ to focus on current data, and analyze the question of what “household” means depending on who makes up the household, and how that is connected to calculating income.
